About Us
As DHCF continues to transform its Medicaid program, Amerigroup District of Columbia, Inc. (Amerigroup DC) has been working tirelessly in anticipation of this new model.
For three years (2017 – 2020), we successfully collaborated with DHCF, providing comprehensive programs that supported the needs of more than 46,000 individuals. We are excited and stand ready to resume serving Enrollees and Providers with this new contract.
Amerigroup DC is a locally based, domestic corporation dedicated to serving Enrollees in the District of Columbia Healthy Families Program (DCHFP), the Healthcare Alliance Program (Alliance), and the Immigrant Children’s Program (ICP).
Our Approach
Amerigroup DC is well positioned to provide the full complement of services and supports in accordance with the District’s regulations.
We will bring our enhanced Case Management and Care Coordination approach to the District as part of our Elevate ǀ Population Health model, addressing Enrollees’ physical health (PH), behavioral health (BH), and social determinants of health needs with a focus on health equity.
Our approach not only reflects our experience supporting the District, it also looks towards the future, with improvements that promote innovation, address the changing Medicaid landscape, and strengthen community ties.
Amerigroup DC’s person-centered approach recognizes that individual Enrollee needs are influenced by many factors — diagnosis, treatment history, family and extended supports, as well as social risk factors. We integrate data from multiple sources into actionable information that provides in-depth insight into all aspects of an Enrollee’s health.
These insights inform our local solutions that are responsive to individuals’ needs while removing unnecessary processes, closing gaps in care and making measurable impacts in improving the health of entire communities.

Our comprehensive network of physical and behavioral health providers across the District includes high quality doctors and hospitals to choose from, plus extra support from experienced care coordinators who look beyond health care and focus on quality of life and independence.
