Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan Overview
Once you have Original Medicare Part A and Part B, you can enroll in or switch to a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan at any time.
With Medicare Supplement Insurance coverage, you can visit any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare patients. Based on the plan you enroll, Amerigroup’s Medicare Supplement Insurance plans cover 100% of Part A and Part B coinsurance. That gives you the peace of mind of having predictable out-of-pocket costs.
All of our plans also include SilverSneakers® fitness memberships at no additional cost.
Amerigroup Offers Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans A, F, G, and N.
We offer different Medicare Supplement insurance plans to meet your expected needs and budget.
A
Plan A covers inpatient hospital care and pays for Medicare Part A and Part B coinsurance, as well as Part B copayments. Plan A does not cover the Medicare Part A deductible.
F
Plan F covers Medicare deductibles and all copayments and coinsurance. However, if you were eligible for Medicare as of January 1, 2020, you cannot join Plan F, according to a new government regulation.
G
Plan G covers all out-of-pocket costs not covered by Original Medicare for Medicare-approved services, except for the Medicare Part B deductible.
N
This plan helps pay for Medicare Part A and Part B coinsurance costs. You’ll be responsible for the Medicare Part B deductible, copayment, and excess charges*, but you’ll have lower monthly premiums.
*You can avoid excess charges by receiving Medicare covered services from a provider that accepts Medicare assignment, which is Medicare’s payment as full payment.

Medicare Supplement Insurance Or Medicare Advantage?
You can have a Medicare Supplement Insurance plan or a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan but not both. Here are key differences to help you choose.
Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans
- In addition to your medical coverage, you may be able to purchase separate policies adding dental, vision, or a Part D prescription drug plan.
- Once enrolled in a plan, you can keep the same coverage with no need to renew, as long as you pay your premiums.
- You can visit any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare patients.
- The plan moves with you if you relocate.
Medicare Advantage Plans
- Plans may include dental, vision, and hearing coverage. Most also provide coverage for prescription drugs.
- Plans can change and do not offer guaranteed lifetime coverage once you’ve enrolled.
- You can choose a preferred provider organization (PPO) plan or a health maintenance organization (HMO) plan.
- Plans may have a $0 premium or low premium.
- You must live in the plan service area in order to remain eligible for the plan. If you travel out of area more than 12 months or move you may have to switch plans.
