Amerigroup Foundation Aims to Improve Children’s Health in Washington
Foundation Gives Grant to Children’s Alliance
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Wednesday, January 16, 2013) – The Amerigroup Foundation has contributed $10,000 to the Children’s Alliance in Seattle to help improve the health status for children in the state.
The grant will help support administrative and legislative advocacy with state agencies and policymakers to advance policies such as Apple Health for Kids and new opportunities presented through implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
“We’re proud to support an organization that is consistent with our Foundation’s goals of promoting community improvement, as well as encouraging safe and healthy children and families,” said Daryl Edmonds, Amerigroup Washington chief executive officer. “We look forward to the advocacy efforts of the Children’s Alliance in 2013, as the organization continues to improve children’s health care in the state of Washington.”
The Children’s Alliance is currently working on four campaigns:
“We appreciate the Foundation’s support of our public policy work aimed to strengthen the families of Washington,” said Jon Gould, Children’s Alliance deputy director. “By advocating for the needs of children and families, we can help to improve children’s access to healthcare, increasing the likelihood of their success in life.”
The Foundation has contributed $25,000 to the Children’s Alliance in the past two years.
